European Heritage Days
In the Meaux Region as in many places in France, the month of September is resolutely dedicated to heritage during the week-end of European Heritage Days. It is the occasion to discover the historical legacy surrounding you… and the Meaux region has plenty of it!
Each year, the week-end of European Heritage Days encounters a true success in the Meaux Region. The public can thus discover or rediscover the essential treasures of the territory such as the episcopal city of Meaux, its Saint-Etienne cathedral, its Bossuet garden annexed to the bishops palace, which is home to the beautiful collections of the Bossuet museum. New guided tours are put in place each year to allow discover these treasures, sometimes not well-known. Thus don’t miss the visit of the Northern tower of the cathedral, usually closed to public. This tour will allow you to gain some height. Admire the remarkable view given to you from the heights of this exceptional structure and enjoy the knowledge of a tour guide who will not miss on the occasion to tell you about this history-filled site.
The Great museum also offers a wide program of activities and tours during the Heritage Days. Whether you have already visited one of the largest European collections about the First World War or not yet, this program will give you the opportunity of visiting this museum through a new and original aspect.
The European Heritage Days are also celebrated in the ruins of the Montceaux-les-Meaux castle, on the Marne battlefields and his numerous memorials, as well as in many other places normally closed to public.
